Good evening, 

I've been having issues recently with my PW-500, the machine has worked perfectly for months but is now showing loose top stitches every few stitches, with nice stitches in between. I've replaced several needles and it seems to happen using size 16, 17 and 20 needles with vx69 bonded nylon thread. The thread is not bunching or gathering at the needle and I don't see or feel any burrs the bobbin assembly or needle plate. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Start with the simple stuff. Check to see if the center presser foot is pushed all the way up on the shaft. To do so loosen the screw, push it up and then tighten the screw. Next check to make sure the center foot is coming up during operation of the machine. Basically what should happen is that the outer foot should come up about 3mm at its highest point and then the center foot about 2mm in an alternating fashion as you run the machine. Do this with the feet down. Also check the cap spring that is just under the needle plate on the retaining ring. If is has any burrs replace it. Good luck!
