Hi, I have a friend with a charter boat who needs to cover up the upper railings on his charter to hide the safety mesh (chainlink fencing) and dress up the boat. Whatever we cover it with has to weather resistant, windproof, and easy to clean because it will be left on full time. I suggested Phifertex with grommets and then zip tie it all on. He is also looking at vinyl banners from a sign shop to advertise the charter business, so maybe some combo of the banners on each side and the Phifertex on the rest of it. Can you suggest any other material for me? Phifertex Plus possibly - wasn't sure if it would let enough wind through to keep from tearing off. Also some suggestions on other ways to attach the the mesh to the railing? Thanks in advance for any help, Dan Other photos are here: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/potomac-belle-alexandria-2 ![]() |

Zip ties are a great way to attach weathercloths since they are easy to replace. You can also lace it with leechline if desired. For the bottom edge it is nice to use Fender Hooks (https://www.sailrite.com/Fender-Hook-Lifeline-Hook). If he wants to get rid of the safety mesh he could replace it with lifeline netting. But I like your idea of using standard Phifertex. Another option would be Sotis (https://www.sailrite.com/search?keywords=soltis). Let me know if I can help further.
