I'm making weather cloths for the top of the pilothouse on our vessel.  I've been using Sunbrella Cadet Grey for some canvaswork, and Stamoid Pearl Grey in other places, depending on need.  Although the attached photos show one cloth going all around the pilothouse railing, my plan is to make individual paralleogram shaped cloths for between each upright.

My questions are:
Would Sunbrella or Stamoid be better for this application?  I think I've mostly seen Sunbrella on other boats.
Secondly, what would you recommend as the grommet spacing for these weather cloths.

I'll attach 2 links-- one of our boat from the 1960s when she had a railing and weathercloths.  I'll also attach a photo of her sistership that never lost its railing, just for comparison.

Thanks for your input.

Either Sunbrella or Stamoid can be used, I would personally recommend Sunbrella as I like the woven look better than a vinyl finish. If you prefer the vinyl, Stamoid will work just as well.

As for the grommet spacing, you want enough to keep the weather cloths taught and in place. I would shoot for them to be placed anywhere between 6-12" from each other.
