I'm looking for a cloth to make traditional sails from. I've been using Claipper Canvas for some sails, but thats a rather heavyweight cloth, and I'd like something around 3-4oz cloth (that is american weight 5-6oz in english). Colour is not very important, though cream or tan would be nice. Where can I get this?

Sailrite stocks both cream and tanbark Dacron in 3.9 oz and 5 oz weights. These are modern medium hard finish Dacrons and will result in a finished sail that holds its shape very well. If you want a much softer finish you need to find a sailmaker that stock "Oceania" fabric which was originally designed for North Sails (I think???).
Please see our website if you are interested in the product Sailrite offers:
