I have a Thompson PW-301, older version of the Sailrite LS-1. I've followed all the alignment/adjustment/setup steps and it runs and stitches very well with no issues.... Except that the forward stitch length is shorter than the reverse stitch length and shorter that it should be.
This is supposed to stitch 6mm forward stitches. And they are closer to 4mm. The stitch length arm is all the way up, the knob is not stopping it from a full stitch length. Could this be a walking foot adjustment? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, This is likely an issue with the vertical position of the stitch length plate. It sounds like the plate is mounted too low. Loosen and remove the two screws holding the plate on so that you can move the lever up more. If that increases the stitch length in forward then you have the problem located. Note that moving the plate up will lengthen forward but it will also reduce the reverse stitch length.
The other thing you could do is to retrofit the machine with the EZ-Set stitch length plate which will give you the best stitch length possible in both directions.
