how is a spinnaker repaired? Are the edges of the patch folded under and then the patch sewn over the rip? Is the damaged area cut out? Thankyou, fred |

The best way to repair a ripstop nylon rip is to simply use the same weight fabric and cut a patch about 1" larger in all directions of the damaged area. Do not fold (hem) the edges. Simply stick the patch down using basting tape around its perimeter. Sew around the perimeter of the patch with a zigzag stitch. Flip the sail and cut out the damaged area. Now sew around the perimeter of the newly cut edges.
