New member here. I have laid my hands on a Singer 111W153 machine mounted on a table with a clutch motor. It was at work sitting for years in a corner under inches of dust. I cleaned it up and oiled it and seems to be running good and sound solid.

I'd like to know if this unit would be good for making/repairing boat covers. I haven't tried to sew anything on it yet but would like any ideas on needles and threads to use also. I'm WIDE open for any ideas and suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Gary,
The 111 is a great machine. You can use 13X17 system needles in size ranges from #12 to #23 nicely. For canvas work I suggest V-92 polyester thread and a #20 needle.
Best Regards, Matt
