For up to 1.5 oz Nylon light air sails use V-30 Polyester. For 3 to 6 oz sailcloth use V-69 thread. For 6.5 oz plus use V-92 Polyester thread.

Laminate working sails would typically be sewn with V-69 for boats up to 28 feet and V-92 for larger boats.
