This is my second Sailrite mainsail cover kit. The first one was for a 10 foot boom on a 33' boat and I used the 10 foot kit and all went well. The second one I assembled was for a smaller boat (28'/29') but with an 11 foot boom, so I used the booms to 13' kit and measured the sail stack height as per instructions and selected the appropriate pattern struck on the canvas. The length and fit for the aft say 8 feet of cover is fine, but the finished cover has too much room for the stacked sail and mast.
The cover has a pronounced shoulder with no sail to fill it and the opening for the mast could fit probably two masts. Looks OK from the pier, but wonder what I should do next time to customize the pattern for a boat with boom length that is long for the boats LOA and mast circumference of only 18 inches? Ken |

Hi Ken,
You could always take out any extra along the spine of the cover. It is a fairly easy correction if it bothers you to have the extra room. Also keep in mind a new sail will fill it out much more. For the next cover put it on the furled sail after the spine is sewn to customize the front and the hang down. But don't go too tight. In my opinion a loose mainsail cover is much better.
