I'm converting my roller furling staysail to hank on.  I've already removed the furler luff tape and have started to remove the Sunbrella UV cover.  Unfortunately the original sailmaker installed our reefing gear and some other hardware on top of the sunbrella, which makes removing more of a chore than I'd originally thought.

Is there any reason I shouldn't just leave the UV cover on?  It's white sunbrella so it doesn't look bad.  It's a little difficult to flake and stow, but on the other hand, it sure is nice and heavy--well, at least the leech and foot are.

Any feedback would be so appreciated.

I do have a sail loft I can work in, so disassembling and reassembling the sail wouldn't be impossible.  Just trying to save myself some time.

Leave the cover on. It will not harm anything - just adds weight.
