I have to repair a main sail  that has to rips in the luff. Two of the grommets have to be replaced, size 3 (7/16 inch). Instead of buying 2 spur grommets and the required die I'm thinking of using two brass rings instead. But where can I find instructions how to hand-sew them properly, what thread to use etc.?

We have full instructions on hand sewing rings in The Mainsail Manual. It is part #36201. Use waxed twine #29206 to sew the rings. A #16 hand sewing needle is appropriate.
