Just recieved my machine today and was thinking of hardwiring the light power into the hot side of the machines plug. Has anyone done this and any downsides? I can only see positives. Thanks

You can certainly do this. If you unscrew the outlet block from the machine you will see terminals for "L" and "M". Connect one leg of wire from the light to each location and the light will be hot.
