well i completed my dodger Big smile now moving to back Bimini . When making pattern i ran into great difficulty around the double backstay. i have watched the video on single zipper backstay. i get the concept. What to do for pattering for double ?? do i try to diagonal them? Keep them straight?  How do i get the pattern made? i totally cut up my dura - skrim around that area ended up taping areas.  Hence i am not Shockedcomfortable with what i have to start cutting my sunbrella  HELP Thank You

Hi Debbie,

Make sure you watch the newer video on the 3-Bow Bimini for how we suggest you make the new slits.

For patterning, the goal is to use tape to reconnect the pattern sections once the backstay has been located and allows the rigging to run through. I think the slits should be parallel to the centerline of the boat myself. So yes, in general you cut up the dura-scrim to get around the rigging and then you tape it back together carefully. Your cuts don't have to be perfect since you will open them to remove the pattern and then retape them when you get the pattern to the floor. At that time you just need the wire positions to be transferable to the actual fabric. Then you can cut the slits accurately when building that actual zipper slits.
