My sister has recently acquired a Pfaff Model 1199 that appears to be stuck in zig-zag mode. I'm guessing that this is just and adjustment that needs to be cleaned. Any input on where to look and what to do?
Thanks! -Sue

Here is a link to a manual with a one-page trouble-shooting -- probably not too helpful.
http://s2.vsmgroup.com/VSM/Pfaff/pfaffmanual.nsf/1fd5659e6f37141041256697003e64c0/b0c4a6dd9800e2f4852575fb006ccf14/$FILE/Pfaff%201196-1199%20x%20.PDF I have acquired two machines -- a Singer 111W155 and a Bernina 217 -- neither of which hadn't been used in over a decade. Apparently the oil had thickened and had seized some parts. The stitch-length on the singer could not be changed, and zig zag did not work on the Bernina. After several months of copious oiling, the stitch length adjust on the Singer freed. Emersion of the Bernina in kerosene for 24 hours freed zig zag. |

I should have mentioned that the best forum for home sewing machines seems to be one out of UK.
