Brand new to sewing and the machine.  I'm starting many small projects, but am looking for a pattern or hints on chaps for our inflatable.

I've made dinghy chaps and the easiest way to do it by far is to buy yourself some plastic sheeting (or buy some clear/opaque shower curtains at the dollar store). Wait for a calm day and with a helping hand, lay the plastic over the dinghy and mark the edges, the oar locks, handles, etc. with a black marker - voila! a perfect pattern! I found that I only needed one fitting after making the chaps to get a good fit.

TIP - make sure the chaps come up a bit along the sides toward the end of the pontoon (stern). Water will collect in the chaps when you plane. Also if you use Phifertex over the pontoon points, water won't collect there either.

We have a new boat and a new dinghy so guess what project I'm tackling this year (after the new stackpack and bimini)???
