When repairing a sail I am having trouble getting the sail under the needle at the original setting. How do I raise the needle when needed?

Hi, Usually it would be the presser foot that gets in the way of inserting the sail. The needle bar will have a defined range and rotating the balance wheel until the needle is at the top of its travel is the best that you will be able to do. Making an actual adjustment of the bar up would maladjust timing and result in stitching failure. Thanks, Matt

Thanks. I thought as much. What presser foot do I need to purchase if all I have is the original one that came with the LZ1 or is there a way I can adjust the foot I have?

Is it that you are having difficulty getting the boltrope under the foot of the machine? If so you can remove the foot to get over the rope and then reinstall it once you are in the body of the sail.
