I'm considering redoing my bimini an camper canvas on a large cruiser. Current sunbrella is fairly new, but has de-laminated in areas and has tears from a recent storm.
The bimini is large, roughly 12 ft side to side and about 12ft long. Current construction is 2 - 60" wide sections sewed together with 12"-15"side panels sew in to get to the 12' mark. Any reason I can use the current sunbrella as a pattern? If not, how to pattern a large area like this?

If the current top fits well and the frame design is not changing then you may use it as a pattern. But you must be careful when you deconstruct it to not stretch the panel edges when removing stitches to separate things.
the alternative is to use Dura Scrim and pattern the frame. We have some great new videos that show this process: https://www.sailrite.com/How-to-Make-a-3-Bow-Bimini-Top https://www.sailrite.com/How-to-Make-a-3-Bow-Bimini-Top-for-a-Pontoon |
