Hi guys, I am planning to make Dinghy Chaps. I have downloaded your instructions and have looked at several other on line instructions. I am planning to order Sunbrella fabric.

But I have a question about the abrasion-resistant fabric.

I am wondering what the pros and cons are of choosing Naugahyde Universal over Shelter-Rite. I like the color options that Naugahyde gives me (like Teal or Deep Violet) more so than Shelter-Rite. They both seem to have very similar properties. We will be living aboard and traveling in the Caribbean.

Thanks for your help.

The "double rub" count for Naugahyde is excellent (which means that it has excellent abrasion resistance). Shelter-Rite is "tougher" but probably not much better at resisting abrasion. So I would not hesitate to use the Naugahyde in this application.
