I've had my Sailrite Yachtsman cleaned and analyzed by a good shop and they have determined that the upper shaft is bent. It hangs up most of the time. I got this machine off ebay and got totally ripped off. Is an upper shaft for this machine available? Would it be cost effective to get the shaft replaced? What would a new shaft cost me?

After the purchase and initial repair, I'm now out $427 on an old machine that won't work. How I wished I would have bought the LSZ-1 !

The only way to bend an upper shaft is to drop the machine hard. This is not a replacement you want to pay for. If the shaft is indeed bent, it is time to scrap the machine. Sorry :(

You are right, the LSZ-1 would have been the way to go :)
Thanks, Matt

Mark,
Have you tried contacting paypal, and going thru the resolution process to get your $$ back? (you've got up to 45 days to file)

I don't know what it takes to get the shaft out of the machine, but a competent machine shop can probaly straighten it.
