I saw a material called Sea Tarp which looks like really nice stuff. I think it is vinyl impregnated (like an inflatable boat) rather than laminated. It's supposed to be extremely tough and durable. It looks like nice stuff. Anybody have any experience with it?

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY TRIED SEA TARP, YOU SHOULD DO SO. I'VE USED IT FOR YEARS IN THE CANVAS FOR MY BOAT AS A BACKING MATERIAL AND IT IS AS TOUGH AS NAILS AND NEVER WEARS OUT. IT CAN BE SEWN OR GLUED TOGETHER AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE STRENGTH OF THE GLUE JOINT. I HAVE YET TO HAVE A GLUE JOINT FAIL REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH STRETCHING I DO. BOAT CANVAS HAS TO BE PULLED QUITE TIGHT ON OCCASION AND THIS STUFF IS UP TO THE JOB. I LOVE IT. IT'S A LITTLE EXPENSIVE- ABOUT 10.00 A YARD, BUT WELL WORTH IT. IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY IT, YOU CAN GET IT AT PERFET FIT MACDONALD IN SEATTLE. THEY HAVE A WEB SITE YOU CAN GO TO. THEY SAY THEY ARE WHOLESALE ONLY, BUT THEY WILL SELL TO ANYBODY. GOOD LUCK.

Thanks for posting the info. I think I can get some here in Portland or online.
It looks like very handy stuff so I think I'll get some to have on hand. Vince |
