I'm looking for a reliable sewing machine that can handle everything from straight stitching to button holes to lock stitching, etc. Any suggestions on a versatile,  reliable machine would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Reid

There is no one perfect machine which will do everything. For instance Sailrite's Ultrafeed LSZ-1 machines will perform a lock stitch with walking foot feeding and sew both straight and zigzag stitches. But it will not sew button holes (at least in an automated way). If you find an Industrial machine which sews button holes you will give up the walking foot. I would suggest that you try to prioritize what features are most important to you and then maybe I can give you some better recommendations.
Thanks, Matt

Thanks, Matt - I could probably do without the button hole feature. I primarily want to do canvas, vinyl, and nylon/dacron work. Looks like the LSZ-1 would be best? Reid

Hi Reid,
If you can live without the button holes the LSZ-1 is going to be perfect for everything else you have in mind!
Thanks, Matt
