Hi Sailgal

That would be great if you could email me a cd! My address is 6 Bullwood Hall Lane, Hockley, Essex England SS5 4TD. We had a bit of a shock the other day when the metal piece under the foot that walks the fabric along just shattered into two pieces! Hopefully we'll be able to find a new one and use your manual to get it working perfectly!

Thanks in advance

Holly

Hello, I've just run across this thread and I have an old Read's sewing machine with manual that I'd like to unload. I bought a new Sailrite and I have no use for the Read's. It works but it needs some work.

I'd like to get $50 for it. I live in Annapolis and would be willing to travel a reasonable distance to meet someone. I could email pics if interested.

Thanks, Dave Murphy

Dear David:
I can share my manual with you. It is scanned, saved in PDF files and burned on a CD. Send me your email address.

I have a Read's sailmaker zig zap sewing machine for sale, which includes the original manual. This machine ALSO has a fitting hand attachment. It has been served a number of times. We used it while we were sailing in the 80s and it has had sporadic use thereafter for small sewing projects. Can anyone tell me what would be a fair price? It's in very good condition. Weighs approximately 40 lbs.

Typically I see them sell for about $250.

Thanks, Matt

Here is another plea for a Read's instruction manual, this time from France............ please can anyone forward a copy to me? I recently bought a sailmaker from someone who was returning to the UK and the manual that was with it doesn't match the machine!!!!!!!!!!!! Ho hum!
And, there are loads of extras in the box that I haven't a clue what to do with!
Many thanks.........
