I'm making a main that has a loose foot and a bolt rope along the luff. The instructions indicate that the foot tape should be sewn on after the luff tape and bolt rope are installed. there aren't any details about sewing the foot tape at the clew and the tack. Is it reasonable to fold the end of the tape in along its length an inch or so and sew the clew end flush with the leech edge and the tack end just behind the bolt rope?

Hi Mark,
Yes folding the tape like that is reasonable. At the tack it is certainly the right way to do it. My only concern at the clew would be if the section gets too bulky to slide in the boom groove. Typically this is not a problem and it certainly isn't if you have a loose footed sail. So proceed as you have suggested.
Best Regards,
Matt Grant
