My rowing / sailing dinghy has teak board seats. These peg the needle on comfort, but I am going to make cushions for these anyway.
 
My plan is to construct fitted cushions for the top and storage compartments below, surrounding the teak board.
 
Is there a thin plastic panel that I can sew into the top and bottom of the suspended storage compartment to stiffen the compartment, to minimize sagging?
 
For example, this Plastic Vent looks like an ideal material and thickness. Is this available in strips or panels? What is this plastic?

I don't know but it's an interesting question.

Tandy leather sells a stiffener. I've not used it,and perhaps more than one layer might be necessary.
