I have a main that is blown out along the bottom. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair? Someone suggested that I would have to cut out a section of the leech to accomplish the repair, does anyone actually have experience?

This one would be hard for me (Matt with Sailrite) to answer without actually seeing the sail. If the bottom is shot it is likely the rest of the sail is tired too.

If the sail can be saved the best approach to decrease shape in the lower section would be to reverse broadseam the seams. In other words, gradually widen the seams toward the center of each seam. There is a very complete discussion of this process in the "Sail Repair Manual" by Jim Grant. Find the book at www.sailrite.com.

Thanks, Matt
