Hi, I could use some help. I have a mainsail to one of my boats that I want to add a leech line to. What would be the easiest way to feed a leech line up the leech of a sail that was built without one? Thanks,

Hi Ed,
It is not likely that you can push a snake through the existing sleeve. Usually the pocket is closed tightly with sewing at the batten pocket areas. Unfortunately anytime I have done this in the past I have found that unstitching the batten pockets at their outer ends and then sewing on a new leech tape is required (complete with leechline). Then when it is time to resew the batten pockets make sure to not sew over the leech line. Instead reverse the machine to lock the stitch just infront of the leech line and then jump over the line and stitch for a very short distance just at the edge (pushing the leechline forward as you do this). I hope this helps.
